The Basics
What is Pokémon Pokopia?
Pokémon Pokopia is a cozy life-sim and adventure game for Nintendo Switch 2, released March 5, 2026. You play as Ditto, arriving at a series of abandoned, broken-down lands and restoring them by befriending Pokémon, building habitats, and solving each region's main problem.
What platform is it on?
Nintendo Switch 2 only. It's not on Switch 1 or any other platform.
Who do you play as?
You play as Ditto. There's no team to train — Ditto is the protagonist and picks up new abilities by transforming into other Pokémon (Squirtle for Water Gun, Scyther for Cut, and so on).
Is there a main story?
Yes. Each of the four regions has a major restoration quest — raise humidity in the Withered Wasteland, restore electricity in Bleak Beach, throw a massive party in Rocky Ridges, and rebuild the Skyland Building in Sparkling Skylands. Completing each region's quest unlocks new areas and raises your Trainer Rank.
Gameplay
Do you catch Pokémon?
No — you befriend Pokémon by building their ideal habitats. Each one has specific requirements: terrain type, time of day, weather, biome. Get the habitat right and the Pokémon shows up on its own.
What are specialties?
Specialties are passive skills — each Pokémon has one, and it determines what they'll do automatically on your island. Chop logs, build structures, smelt ore, generate electricity, and more. There are 30 in total.
What are Ditto's moves?
Ditto learns 13 moves during the main story (plus 1 post-game move) by transforming into specific Pokémon. These aren't battle moves — they're exploration tools. Water Gun waters terrain, Cut chops trees, Surf lets you swim, Glide lets you fly across sky islands. Each is unlocked by befriending or completing a request for the relevant Pokémon.
What are Dream Islands?
Dream Islands are resource hubs you can visit once a day via Drifloon. Each is themed after a main region and has exclusive materials — Glowing Mushrooms, Sea Glass, Pokémetal Fragments, Stardust. You need a specific doll to access each island type.
Is there a post-game?
Yes. After finishing all four regions you can unlock Magnet Rise (vertical flight), befriend the remaining 7 Legendary Pokémon, complete all cooking recipes, walk 10,000 steps for Suicune, and explore Cloud Islands online.
Online & Multiplayer
Is the game online?
Yes — up to 4 players online, plus local wireless. Online requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership. There's also a live event system with time-limited Pokémon and rewards.
What are Cloud Islands?
Cloud Islands are online multiplayer spaces where you visit other players' islands, collaborate on builds, and explore developer-created islands. You need Nintendo Switch Online, the Mysterious Goggles item (bought with Life Coins), and the v1.0.1 update.
How do I join a live event?
Events unlock automatically once you've rebuilt at least one Pokémon Center, about 1.5 hours in. Connect to the internet and the event content appears. Events don't work on Cloud Islands.
Codes & Gifts
How do I redeem a Mystery Gift code?
Walk up to any Pokémon Center terminal, press A, and select 'Mystery Gifts'. For serial codes, choose 'Get with Code/Password'. For automatic gifts like the Ditto Rug, choose 'Get via Internet'. Mystery Gifts unlock after about 1.5 hours of play.
What codes are currently active?
The current active serial code is PXQC G03S (Developer's Cloud Island access). The Ditto Rug pre-order gift is available via 'Get via Internet' until January 31, 2027. Check the Gift Codes page for the full up-to-date list.
Legendaries
How many Legendary Pokémon are there?
There are 12 Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Five show up during the main story (Kyogre, Raikou, Volcanion, Mewtwo, Moltres) and seven are post-game, each with specific unlock conditions — building habitats, walking 10,000 steps, completing all cooking recipes, and so on.
Can I miss a Legendary permanently?
Story Legendaries can't be missed. Post-game ones are available indefinitely with no time limit. Event-exclusive Pokémon like those from 'More Spores for Hoppip' are the exception — those are only available during the event window.
